History
Country Schoolhouse began 13 ½ years ago in a very small storefront
in Enfield, CT. At that time, we were only able to give classes,
but a short time later, we rented the vacant store next door and
went through the wall.
We started selling supplies and lots of neat surface items. It wasn't
long before we needed more space, so we moved to a small plaza about
a mile away. National teachers started teaching that year and we
have been growing ever since.
In April of 2004, we moved the business to the old "Broad Brook Opera
House" in the quaint village of Broad Brook, CT. The business had
a new studio and came complete with a gift shop called
"Checkerberries," a unique, country primitive gift shop chock full
of needful things.
As of January 2006, we have come full circle. Country Schoolhouse
will now operate again out of a home studio and will continue
running weekly classes, seminars, and weekend workshops for
beginner to advanced decorative
painters.

From Vt, Western MA and NY (Albany area)
Take I-91 South to exit 45. At end of ramp take a left onto route
140 East. Go approx 3 miles to route 191 south (Traffic light and
Right turn only). Go about 1 mile to fork in road (church in fork).
Bear left onto Windsorville Road. At third stop sign (this is a
fork in the road), take a right, then an immediate left onto
Rockville Road. Go approximately 2 miles to cross the town line
(road name changes back to Windsorville road). Jan’s house is on
the left (#265). House is painted “mushroom” color and sits very
close to road with a detached 3 car garage. Studio entrance is on
right side of garage near back. Studio is on second floor. Home

From Northeast of Ellington
(Somers, Ct and North)
Take Route 83 South into Somers and cross over Route 190. Continue
South for about 1 mile and bear right onto South Road (There is a
small plaza at the corner of 83 and South Road on the right). Stay
on this road until your 3rd Stop sign. (Intersection of Jobs Hill
Road). This is also a flashing red light. Take a left onto Jobs
Hill Road and continue South. Go through the next traffic light.
At the second stop sign (about 3 miles) take a sharp right (Sunoco
and Cumberlands at this 5 way stop). This is Windsorville Road.
Go 1.2 miles and Jan’s is on the right. #265 is a “mushroom”
colored brick house that sits very close to the road and has a 3
car detached garage. Studio entrance is on the right side of
garage near back and the studio is on second floor. Home #:

From Points Northeast of Ellington and
Massachusetts (Boston/Worcester /New Hampshire and Maine areas)
Take Route I-84 West towards Hartford. (approximately 20 miles from
Sturbridge). Watch for exit 66 (Vernon Center/Bolton). At end of
ramp, take a right. At stop sign, take a left and proceed to
traffic light. (Church and Police station at this intersection).
Continue through light onto Center Road. Follow Center Road for
about 1 ½ miles until next traffic light (route 83) Walgreens, Valero
gas, Citgo at this intersection. Continue straight through light
onto Dart Hill Road. At next stop sign take a right onto Skinner
Road. At 3rd stop sign you are at a 5-way intersection. Take a
soft left onto Windsorville Road (Cumberland Farms will be on your
left). Go 1.2 miles and Jan’s studio is on right. House is very
close to road (#265) and is “mushroom” color with detached 3 car
garage. Studio entrance is on the right side of garage near back
and the studio is on the second floor. Home #: 860-875-2899
From points South and West of Hartford
Take I-84 East towards Manchester/Vernon. Approximately 4-5 miles
east of Hartford watch for Exit 62 (Buckland Street). At end of
ramp, take a left and follow into South Windsor. Continue going
straight until you see signs for route 74 (Rockville/Ellington).
Take a right onto Route 74 . At the 3rd stop sign, take a left
onto Neiderwerfer Road. At the end of Neiderwerfer, take a right
onto Rockville Road. (Street name changes when you cross town line
into Ellington) Go approximately ¾ mile and Jan’s studio is on the
left. House is very close to the road (#265) and is “mushroom”
color with detached 3 car garage. Studio entrance is on the right
